Idalberto Alcala is an International Master of Cuban Dance, ex-Havana Night choreographer and performer and nine times winner of the Havana Carnival for best choreography, costume design and music.
Alcala began dancing at a very early age, later selected to train at the most prestigious performing arts schools in Cuba, where he studied dance, music, theatre, costume and stage design, and director of Arts.
His artistic talent and unique qualities as a dancer and choreographer was recognised at the young age of 19, when he was given the role as art director and choreographer for Comparsa La Jardinera, an award winning project he did for 10 years. In 1997 came Havana Night, an international Cuban dance show for which Alcala completed three world tours and directed and acted in a film debut to Havana Night Passion from Cuba, before deciding to settle in Australia in 2000, where he established several successful Cuban dance schools.
Alcala recently moved to the UK where his exceptional and unique talent as a choreographer, performer and art director continues. Today, he is director of Que Rico Cuba - a Cuban cultural and Artistic Management company, established with business and dance partner Sarah Rodriguez. Today he is known as one of the most popular dance teachers across the UK, recently being awarded best Latin teacher newcomer to the country 2008. He also is becoming very well known as a charismatic and authentic Latin MC.
