Karel, from Guantanamo in Cuba, graduated from the Theatre Nacional de Cuba, where he studied many different styles of dance including Cuban popular dance, contemporary dance and Folklore (Afro-Cuban dance). In 2003 he came to the UK and founded Habanaloko, providing regular Cuban Salsa classes and club nights across Warwickshire. In 2004 he entered the World Tropicana Championship as a member of the group “Explosion Cubana”, and achieved first place in the Rueda De Casino.

Karel is also the Director of Habanaloko Holidays, taking groups of salsa students to experience authentic Cuban Music and dance off the traditional tourist map.
