There is a continuous motorway

There is continuous motorway or dual carriageway from Bournemouth Town Centre to London and along the South Coast, via the M3 and M27. Fast access may also be gained from the Midlands and the North of England via the M6 and A34.

Getting here by Train

South West Trains operates a comprehensive service to London Waterloo with a journey time of as little as 97 minutes. This line also serves Southampton, Winchester and Basingstoke to the East, with Poole, Wareham, Dorchester and Weymouth to the West.

Virgin Trains serve destinations to the North with direct trains to Reading, Oxford, Birmingham & the Midlands, Manchester and the Northwest, Yorkshire (Sheffield, Leeds, York), Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland.

Southern's 'West-Coast way' services are available by changing at Southampton Central. The Sussex Coastal towns of Chichester, Worthing, Hove and Brighton are served and trains continue to Gatwick Airport and London Victoria.

There are connections to link Bournemouth with the full national network.

Getting here by Coach

There are frequent (16 per day) departures to Bournemouth from London Victoria Coach Station. There are also direct services from the West Country, Sussex coast (Brighton and Eastbourne), Bristol, Birmingham and the Midlands, the North West, Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland.

National Express Airport has 12 departures daily to Bournemouth from Heathrow and Gatwick Airports, with connections from Heathrow to Luton and Stanstead Airports.

Getting here by Air

London Heathrow is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes by road from Bournemouth. London Gatwick is 2 hours and 30 minutes away. Both airports are served by direct coach and rail services to Bournemouth.

Southampton International Airport is approximately 35 minutes away by road and serves as a main station on the rail route between Bournemouth and London. The Bournemouth Airport Shuttle runs between Bournemouth town centre and the airport once an hour from 7am to 7pm, seven days a week, serving the Travel Interchange, East Cliff, the Pier, West Cliff and the Square (nearest stop to the Pavilion).

Bournemouth currently has around 250 licenced taxis (usually painted yellow) and 350 licenced private hire vehicles available 24 hours a day.

Taxis ranks are situated across Bournemouth town centre, at the travel interchange (bus/coach/train hub) and outside the airport and train station. In addition you can call the taxi office and make a booking. Expect to pay approximately £1.75 per mile day rate (6.30am – midnight) and £2.33 per mile between midnight and 6.30am.
